A set weights race for two-year-olds, the SAJC National Stakes has been run and won since 1985 and some of the more notable winners include Toorak Toff (2010), I Am A Star (2016) and Extra Time (2020).
Previously a Listed Race, this race has held Group 3 status since 1987 and is a key event for juveniles during the Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival.

National Stakes Race Day 2023
The 2023 National Stakes takes place on Saturday, the 20th of May, 2023 as part of The Goodwood Day 2022. The event is held on the same race card as the:
- Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m),
- Group 3 RA Lee Stakes (1600m),
- Group 3 SA Fillies Classic (2500m), and the
- Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m).
